Department of the Solicitor General Shoulder Title

This is the ministerial identification shoulder title that was introduced for wear on correctional officer uniforms in 1966 when the Canadian Penitentiary Service was placed under the administration of the new Department of the Solicitor General of Canada.  They were worn only on the tunic and winter overcoat and parkas of the uniform. It was not worn on shirts. Like its predecessor, the flash is black with white lettering.  It was issued between 1966 and 1972.   The French version is somewhat rarer in that it was only issued to institutions located in the province of Quebec.
